Hello and thanks for stopping in! Last night I made Taco Salad and completely forgot to pick up salsa at the grocery store while shopping for all of the ingredients. I didn’t realize until I was halfway through chopping the lettuce and preparing the ground beef that I completely forgot salsa. Personally, I cannot eat taco salad without some sort of spicy sauce or fresh contrast to the meat, so I whipped up a homemade Cilantro Jalapeño spread with ingredients I had on hand. It came out fabulously and I had to share the recipe. It’s fresh, spicy, light and adds just the right touch on a savory dish. I will definitely try this spread on tacos, burritos, tostadas and any other Mexican recipe I whip up! Check out the ingredients and how-to below!
1 cup chopped cilantro
1/3 yellow onion
1 t salt
1/2 t pepper
1/2 t sugar
2 t olive oil
Instructions: Chop tomato, cilantro, onion, and jalapeño and put in Ninja or blender. Add salt, pepper, sugar and olive oil. Blend until reaches a pasty spread texture. Chill in refrigerator until ready to serve!
