Camille’s Clicks of the Week: Gabrielle Union, Stephen A. & ‘The Get Down’

Thanks for viewing my weekly clicks! This week was full of women taking a stand for our rights and I am particularly inspired by the first story you will read here about Zulaikha Patel. She is goals. Also, I share three things i’ve learned about moving so far, having lived in Fresno, DMV area, LA and the Bay Area in less than a year. Enjoy!

What I’m Reading:

13-year-old Zulaikha Patel protests school’s alleged racist hair policy. Gabrielle Union Shares Her Own Story of Being Raped and Discusses Nate Parker’s Rape Allegations. Georgetown is acknowledging the part they played in slavery. Why you might be moody and the daily nutrients that can help. Ways to Make Yourself Look Older. Former Mayor of NY says that he’s saved more black lives than Beyonce. What happens when you fall asleep in an Uber. Victoria Beckham’s letter to her 18-year-old self. Colin Kaepernick is donating $1M after he took a knee during the National Anthem for injustice in the US. Cam Newton thinks that we are all one color. Stephen A. Smith is SO disappointed in Cam Newton’s fear to take a position on the racial divide in America.

What I’m Watching:

The Get Down – A romantic Netflix series about young teenagers chasing their dreams of rhyming, singing and performing while living in the corrupt streets of the Bronx in 1977 during the rise of hip-hop and decline of disco and punk. Co-producer, Nas shares how he wrote each rhyme that main character, Ezekiel, spits in this timeless recollection of the birth of hip-hop.

3 Things To Keep In Mind When Moving To A New City

1.Prepare :Even if you have movers doing the packing and loading for you, it’s always a better idea to do the packing yourself. While packing my own belongings I threw away so many old items I would’ve hated to keep and unpack once I got to the Bay Area. Packing your own items allows you to better prepare for the unpacking process. Moving is like spring cleaning, except you’re putting your whole life in boxes.
2. Pick A Pod : The actual labor of packing can be so tedious. In order to stay entertained while organizing, I streamed my go-to pods, Call Your Girlfriend, Another Round and Black Media Minute. Check out these episodes!

3. Take A Break: I don’t know about you, but I go absolutely crazy when things aren’t in their proper place. Moving is known to be one of the most stressful tasks in life and taking a break every now and then is necessary to get everything done efficiently. With an apartment full of boxes, clothes, pots, pans, etc out of their place taking a minute to step away and recharge is essential. I definitely made a few more Starbucks runs than usual and glad I did.

Until Next Week!
